Liposuction
Liposuction is a routine cosmetic surgery performed by many plastic surgeons. It is also the most popular surgical cosmetic procedure .Liposuction is a way to make certain corrections of the body, not to lose weight. we offer mechanical liposuction, the safest kind of removal of fat. Volume of the fat removed estimates up to 6 litres.
The Liposuction Procedure
This plastic surgery procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia. Time in surgery varies depending on the size of the area being treated, but is usually less than an hour. Using the recently developed procedure tumescent liposuction, local anesthesia provides both a numbing effect and a means to help remove fat. General anesthesia is recommended only in cases where large areas or multiple areas are treated.
Fat deposits adhere to the underside of the skin and can be removed if they can be dislodged. A local anesthetic is applied to the area where the fat deposits are to be removed. An incision is made and a cannula (a long hollow needle) is inserted under the skin and scraped along the underside skin surface, loosening the fat deposits. The cannula is hollow with holes at the end to allow suction. The fat deposits are then sucked into the vacuum through a tube connected to the cannula. The most common liposuction cannulas are 3 mm, but the cannulas can be as large as 6 mm or as small as 1.5 mm.
Size of Liposuction Incisions
The location of the liposuction treatment plays an important role in determining the size of the cannula and the number of incisions. For smaller cannulas, more incisions are needed, but the incisions are smaller and leave less scarring. Larger cannulas with larger incisions achieve results over a larger area through possibly only one incision. In either case, the surgeon minimizes scarring as much as possible.
After Liposuction
The skin will be swollen and sore because of the scraping process. The soreness and swelling can last for several days. In some cases, the incisions are left open temporarily to fluids and residual fatty deposits to empty through an inserted drain from the treated area. Liposuction can be repeated for a given area of the body a number of times, as long as the area has completely healed from the previous treatment.
Are You a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
The odds are, you may very likely be a candidate for liposuction. The odds are, because about 65 percent of adults are overweight and liposuction is the most popular treatment among all of the surgical cosmetic procedures .
Liposuction removes fat deposits under the skin by vacuuming fat tissue through a long, hollow needle called a cannula. The cannula is inserted through incisions, then scraped along the underside of the skin, dislodging the deposits while a strong vacuum removes the deposits through the cannula.
The Best Candidates
Fat deposits accumulate under everyone's skin. The best candidates for liposuction may have bulging and flabby areas of the body from these fat deposits, especially the abdomen, arms, thighs, and neck. Even in people who eat a healthy diet and stay physically fit, these fat deposits can persist. They can result from genetic factors, body chemistry, or other causes.
The ideal candidates for liposuction are physically fit, exercise regularly, and are not more than twenty pounds overweight. People with very localized, exercise-resistant fatty deposits may obtain the best results. Patients should be aware that the flabby appearance of the area being treated may not disappear completely. Crash diets before or immediately after this plastic surgery procedure are not recommended.
An ideal candidate is also someone who has made an effort to eliminate the fatty deposits through extensive exercise and diet. These candidates may spend an inordinate amount of time on exercise programs or with excessive diets just to reduce or eliminate one final, persistent bulge. Some bulges are exercise resistent, and liposuction may provide a solution.
Surgical Indication:
The operation is designed for the permanent removal of fatty tissue, commonly referred to as "cellulite." It is an elective procedure that allows the cosmetic surgeon to remove undesirable, subcutaneous fat in isolated areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.
The surgeon makes small (1-1,5cm), discreet incisions in the areas to be treated. The cannula is pushed then pulled through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out. The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe.
The scars are faint and are almost invisible as they are usually covered by underwear.
After the operation:
You will be fitted with a snug elastic garment to wear over the treated area for a few weeks.
Rehabilitation period:
Depends on how may areas are involved (from 5 to 14 days). Aftercare may be performed either in the clinic or outpatiently. In the second case the patient has to spend one day in the clinic, and then undergoes 1 or 2 bandagings.
Cost:
Depends on how many areas are involved (doesn't depend on the amount of the removed fat). One area is about 30x30cm.
